Yes. Anointing oil can be used during prayers for deliverance as a prophetic expression of cleansing, consecration and restoration through Jesus Christ. The biblical purpose of deliverance is not merely to confront evil, but to restore people to the freedom and holiness made available through the redemptive work of Jesus. In Luke 4:18--19, Jesus identifies liberation of the captives and freedom for the oppressed among the purposes of His anointing. Mark 6:12--13 likewise records the disciples preaching repentance, casting out demons and anointing the sick. These activities belong to the wider ministry of salvation, healing, deliverance and restoration. The relationship between repentance and deliverance is particularly important. Sin must be acknowledged and dealt with rather than justified or deliberately preserved. Through confession, forgiveness and cleansing, a person turns away from what is contrary to God's Word and returns to the authority of Jesus Christ. Anointing then provides a visible prophetic image of restored holiness and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
During deliverance ministry, anointing should be performed according to the leading of the Holy Spirit, not according to a fixed human formula. The oil does not independently expel evil spirits, nor does a particular fragrance possess authority apart from Jesus Christ. The authority belongs to Him, and His followers are called to act in His name. Luke 10:19 speaks of the authority Jesus entrusted to His disciples over the power of the enemy, while Mark 16:17 identifies casting out demons as a sign associated with believers. Within this understanding, anointing expresses faith that the person being ministered to belongs under the authority, holiness and restoring power of Christ. The timing and manner of the anointing should therefore be approached prayerfully, with sensitivity to the person receiving ministry and dependence upon the Holy Spirit. Genuine deliverance ministry must remain centred upon repentance, God's Word, the authority of Jesus and lasting restoration, rather than upon dramatic manifestations or the physical properties of anointing oil.
